Encaustic Painting 8” X 8”

Nature calls me. That includes rocks. While hiking in Acadia National Park, I was fascinated by the rock formations. This painting started with a close up photograph of a beautifully layered rock. Embedding the photo in encaustic wax, I followed the lines of the rock and used accretion to build up layers of wax, creating the ridges.
