Deciduous Trees (1 through 4)

As the beauty of summer fade, and the leaves begin to change color, I attempt to capture that feeling by eco-dying paper. This is a long process of collecting leaves, pressing them between papers, boiling the packet, and letting the whole thing sit overnight. The results can be beautiful. This batch was especially stunning.

To create the Deciduous Trees series, I adhered the eco-prints to a wooden panel, added water color paints to enhance the natural colors, covered with Encaustic Medium, then added my photograph of tree branches. I’m thrilled with the result.
